Ducks Complete Day One At The Pac-12 Championships

OJAI, Calif.  The Oregon Ducks wrapped up singles play on day one at the Pac-12 Championships on Thursday afternoon in Ojai, Calif.

Sophomore Nicole Long lost a 6-1, 6-4 battle to Arizona's Kim Stubbe in the championship draw and senior Patricia Skowronski dropped a 6-2, 6-2 match to No. 2 seed Anett Schutting (California).  Long wraps up her singles season with a 15-9 dual match record.  Skowronski concludes her senior year at 13-11 in dual play.

Long and Skowronski will participate in the doubles championship draw tomorrow morning against the No. 2 seeded Jacqueline Cako and Nicole Smith (Arizona State).  Match time is scheduled for 10 a.m.

In other Pac-12 action, junior Lana Buttner lost to Elizaveta Luzina (6-1, 6-1) in the Round of 32 of the invitational draw. Julia Metzger, however, beat Colorado's Ashley Tiefel (6-1, 7-6 (5)) to advance to the Round of 16. 

Oregon will have two doubles pairs in action tomorrow.  In addition to Long and Skowronski, Metzger and Pascale Neubert will compete in the individual doubles draw tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. against UC Davis' Callie Craig and Sarah Pham.
