No. 4/5 Ducks Rewarded With All-Time Highest Rankings

EUGENE - Looking ahead to its final home action of the regular season, the University of Oregon softball team (40-7, 15-3) received its all-time highest rankings in Tuesday's 13th polls of the regular season.

The Pac-12 leading and No. 4 Ducks repeated their highest ranking in the USA Softball poll from last week, and climbed one spot in the NFCA version to No. 5.

No. 4/5 UO was one of two top-10 ranked teams in the Pac-12 with fellow WCWS returnee and No. 5/3 Arizona State.

Overall, Oregon was one of six league members that ranked top 25 nationally in the USA SB/NFCA polls this week with No. 12/13 Washington, No. 13/12 California, No. 16/17 Stanford and No. 17/15 UCLA.

Two other Pac-12 teams - Arizona and Oregon State – also picked up votes this week.

For comparison's sake, a complete list of Pac-12 rankings from the previous USA SB/NFCA edition follows: No. 4/6 Oregon, No. 5/5 Arizona State, No. 10/10 California, No. 13/13 Washington, No. 15/17 Stanford, No. 16/16 UCLA and No. -/23 Arizona.

Six other Duck non-conference foes in 2013 were also tabbed top 25 this week by USA SB/NFCA – No. 1/1 Oklahoma, No. 3/2 Florida, No. 7/8 LSU, No. 10/10 Michigan, No. 14/16 Nebraska and No. 23/19 Hawai’i.

Altogether, No. 1/1 Oklahoma remained atop the national rankings, and the remaining top-five teams included No. 2/4 Tennessee, No. 3/2 Florida, No. 4/5 Oregon and No. 5/3 Arizona State.

In this week’s NCAA RPI rankings, UO dropped a position to fifth overall. Oregon stood tops in the Pac-12, ahead of #8 Arizona State, #9 Washington, #14 California, #18 UCLA, #20 Stanford, #32 Arizona, #33 Oregon State and #74 Utah.

This week, UO fans can cheer on the Ducks at five games at Howe Field, and the first tilt is a doubleheader vs. Seattle (20-28, 8-10) Wednesday, May 1 at 1 p.m.

Oregon then wraps up its regular season home slate vs. Oregon State (30-17, 7-11) with three single games on Friday-Sunday, May 3-5.

A host of ticket and marketing promotions are available for each game, and a complete list follows.

Seattle, Wednesday, May 1, 1 p.m. (Doubleheader) - DayCare Day. Kids will get $2 admission, and all tickets are two games for the price of one. A Duck coloring contest will also be held at the promotions/marketing table.

Oregon State, Friday, May 3, 4 p.m. - ‘Go Green’ Day. Fans are encouraged to wear green, and several environmental awareness booths will be at the park.

Oregon State, Saturday, May 4, Noon - Junior Duck / Kids Sports / Eugene Little League Day. Junior Duck Club members get in free with their membership card as always. Fifty mini-posters will also be available to youth, and kids are invited to participate in a coloring contest at the marketing/promotions table. The Duck mascot will be on hand from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and Duck players will also sign autographs afterwards. Fans with a ticket from Friday’s Oregon Twilight track and field meet can get a $2 softball ticket.

Oregon State, Sunday, May 5, 1 p.m. - Senior Day. Senior citizens and kids will get $2 tickets, and 100 free Oregon Softball t-shirts will be given away. Kids can run the bases post-game, and Duck students get double points for the Oregon Rewards program.
