SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Cheridan Hawkins and Jessica Moore combined to shutout Cuba, 5-0, and lead the U.S. Women’s Softball National Team to the Pan American Games Qualifier Gold Medal Game. With the win, the U.S. advances to the Championship Game on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (PT) against the winner of the Cuba vs. Canada Bronze Medal Game.

Cuba only mustered four hits on offense thanks to the efforts of current and former Oregon stars, Hawkins and Moore.

Hawkins, a sophomore hailing from Anderson, Calif., earned the win in the circle for the Red, White and Blue. She finished the game with five strikeouts, one walk, three hits and no runs allowed in four complete innings to earn the win.

Hawkins would be relieved by her former Duck teammate and first team All-American Jessica Moore in the fifth inning. Moore finished the final three innings, striking out three and allowing one hit.

Team USA scored two runs in the second inning and three in the fifth in the decisive victory.
