EUGENE, Ore. -- University of Oregon women’s golfer Cassy Isagawa has been named Golfweek Player of the Week, the publication announced today. The junior earned the national recognition for her efforts at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, where she topped the 90-player field with a 12-under three-round score of 207.
Isagawa's 54-hole tally of 207 is tied for second-best in program history with Kendra Little, who shot an identical 12-under 207 at this tournament in 2009. The two-time All-Pac-12 selection carded a 4-under par (69) final round to earn her second career tournament win, besting the runner-up score by six strokes. She opened the tournament with rounds of 70 (-3) and 68 (-5), and finished the tournament with 16 birdies.
Led by Isagawa’s stellar play, the Ducks placed second in the 16-team field with the fourth best 54-hole score in program history. The Ducks finished at 1-over par on the tournament (877) with rounds of 299 (+7), 286 (-6) and 292 (E). Oregon’s second round set the program record for low score vs. par, topping the previous record of 5-under at the 2008 UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational.
Isagawa and the Ducks return to action on Oct. 8-9 with the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Sammamish, Wash. Action will be held at the Sahalee Country Club.
