STANFORD, Calif. – Jasmine Minor of the Oregon women’s tennis team continued to play well on her final day at the Northwest Regional defeating Cristina Saenz de Buruaga 6-1, 6-3 Sunday morning at the Taube Tennis Center on the campus of Stanford University. Minor finished the weekend 3-1 at the tournament, dropping only her second match on day one after a three and a half hour opening round match.
Unlike Saturday’s late start, the junior had a 10:30 a.m. game time but that didn’t make too much of a difference. The Illinois native looked dominant from the get-go having only dropped one game to Saenz de Buruaga in the first set. The freshman from Pacific was able to steal three games in the second set but was not enough as Minor came away with the 6-3 win.
After competing in her first tournament as a Duck, Minor had this to say, “I feel pretty good.” “A little disappointed with the results but I felt like each match I got a little bit better,” said Minor. “It’s always a good thing to end on a win.” “I’ve got some positive momentum going into the next tournament,” said the junior.USTA/ITA Northwest Regional
