Marcus Mariota Named O'Brien Semifinalist

FORT WORTH, Texas -- University of Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota was named one of 16 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, the selection committee announced Monday.

Mariota, a sophomore from Honolulu, leads a UO offense that ranks second nationally in scoring (55.6) and total offense (632.1), completing 64-percent of his passes for 2,281 yards and 20 touchdowns without an interception. A Heisman Trophy frontrunner for the unbeaten Ducks, Mariota also has 511 rushing yards and nine scores, averaging 9.13 yards per carry, which is the fourth-best average in the FBS. His current streak of 293 passing attempts without an interception is a Pac-12 record.

The Pac-12 Offensive Player of the year and all-conference quarterback in 2012, Mariota is also a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award and is on watch lists for the Walter Camp Award and Manning Award. He has a 20-1 record as a starter for the No. 2 Ducks, having never lost a game in regulation in his career.

Fans may now help determine which three quarterbacks will advance as finalists by voting as often as once daily at Fan voting will close at noon (CT) on Nov. 24.

The three Davey O'Brien finalists will be announced on Monday, Nov. 25 and the 2013 Davey O'Brien winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards show airing Thursday, Dec. 12 on ESPN.
