DESERT PALMS, Calif. – The Oregon men’s golf team jumped Colorado to take sole possession of first place at the Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate after the Ducks carded a 279 (-9) team score. Ryann Ree shot a tournament-low round 66 and was a huge factor in the Ducks’ success Saturday at the Classic Club Course.

“We had another solid day,” head coach Casey Martin said. “Ryann came up huge for us. He had been knocking on the door for a while now and it finally opened for him. We will need to stay composed and play our best golf of the week tomorrow. I am anxious to see how we handle the pressure.”

Colorado was bumped down to second place after the Buffs’ shot a 284 (-4) score on day two of the tournament. CU trails Oregon by only one stroke heading into the final round at 20-under compared to the Ducks’ 21-under card.

Oregon State’s David Fink is in first on the individual leaderboard after carding a 67 (-5) on the day. Ree made a jump from being tied for 23rd after the first day, to being in second place after firing a low-round 66 (-6) Saturday.

Sulman Raza also continued to have a good tournament, firing a 68 (-4) in the second round and now sits in a tie for third at 6-under par. Brandon McIver dropped a few spots into a tie for 13th after shooting even par (72) and 4-under overall.

Zach Foushee shot one stroke better than he did the day before with a 73 (+1) card. Freshman Thomas Lim had a rough day on the greens, carding an 80 (+6) and is now 3-over par.

Oregon tees off at 7:10 a.m. Sunday as the Ducks try to hold on to their lead and take home their first team title of the 2013-14 season.
