EUGENE, Ore. - After leading the Ducks to their first ever sweep of Washington, sophomore pitcher Cheridan Hawkins was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Div. I National Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.

This is Hawkins' second national player of the week win, as she also took home USA Softball's honor on March 4 after she threw three shutouts and allowed just one unearned run over four appearances at the Citrus Classic in Orlando, Fla.

Hawkins, who was also named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week on Monday, guided the Ducks to a series sweep of then-No. 5 ranked Washington with two shutouts and three wins in the series.

Hawkins posted a 0.95 ERA and 11 strikeouts over 14.2 innings of work. The sophomore tossed back-to-back shutouts in Saturday's doubleheader, throwing all 12 innings of the two games. She also threw 2.2 frames of relief in Sunday's win, as she picked up the victory after a walk-off homer by Kailee Cuico.

“It’s a very deserving award for Cheridan as she picked up three wins and two shutouts for us against a top-10 team,” Oregon head coach Mike White said. “Cheridan did a great job of mixing pitches and locations, and Alexa Peterson was outstanding behind the plate as well.”

Next up for No. 3 Oregon is a doubleheader against UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday before the arrival of top-ranked UCLA for a three-game series in Eugene starting on Friday afternoon.
