EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon women’s soccer assistant coach Hideki Nakada has taken a position with Stanford. Oregon’s search for a new assistant coach will begin immediately, head coach Kat Mertz announced Wednesday.

Nakada was a part of Mertz’s inaugural coaching staff last season, serving as UO’s recruiting coordinator while working with the team’s defenders and goalkeepers. Prior to his arrival in Oregon, Nakada served as an assistant at Marquette and Idaho State.

Mertz and assistant coach Christie Welsh will return 18 letter winners, including nine potential starters, while welcoming 11 newcomers for the 2014 campaign.

The Ducks opened its spring exhibition season last Saturday, netting two second-half equalizers in a 2-2 draw with Portland. UO continues spring ball on April 12 at Corvallis, taking on Oregon State and Western Oregon in a seven-a-side tournament.
