DENVER, Colo. – Seniors Sami Kiser and Nikki Puszcz were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-tournament team on Sunday, May 4, as voted on by the league coaches. Puszcz tallied the second all-tournament team selection of her career – the first coming in 2012 – while Kiser earned her first all-tournament team selection.
Kiser netted all three of her goals in the MPSF tournament against Denver, the eventual tournament champion, and assisted on a goal against USC in the quarterfinal match.
Kiser, a Severna Park, Md., native finished the season with 18 goals, 10 assists for 28 points. She also finished the season with seven groundballs, a draw control and four caused turnovers.
Puszcz netted three goals for UO as well (11-8) in the tournament, one coming against USC and two against top-seeded Denver. Her go-ahead goal against the Trojans with 1:52 minutes remaining in the game sealed the win for Oregon in the quarterfinal match-up with USC. She then found the back of the cage twice against Denver, one in each half. The senior finished the tournament with three groundballs, three draw controls and caused one turnover for the Ducks.
A native of Towson, Md., Puszcz finished her season with a team-high 40 goals and dished out six assists. She also led the team with 34 groundballs, 28 caused turnovers and also second on the team with 35 draw controls.
Oregon finished the regular-season 11-8 and took fourth in conference play at 6-3. The Ducks advanced to the semifinals of the MPSF Tournament after UO defeated USC, 7-6. Oregon’s season ended the following day, falling to Denver, 18-9.
