WHITEFISH, Mont. – Oregon junior Brandon McIver continued his excellent run in the summer by winning his second-straight Montana State Amateur Championship this past Saturday at Whitefish Lake Golf Club. The Billings, Mont., native carded a 12-under 204 over the three day tournament, winning by eight strokes over the nearest competitor who finished at 4-under 212.

McIver, who recently played in the U.S. Open, led the entire tournament and opened with a 3-under 69, going bogey free, with birdies on holes No. 3, 7 and 10. In the second round, the junior sank seven birdies to just three bogeys for a 68.

McIver didn’t waste any time in the final round, carving out a 32 on the front nine thanks to an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole. He was 6-under heading into the final two holes before missing his par shot on the 17th hole to conclude the round with a 67.

The junior is slated to play in the U.S. Amateur Championship, Aug. 11-17, alongside teammates Thomas Lim, Jonathan Woo, Brandon Baumgarten and incoming freshman Aaron Wise at the Atlanta Athletic Club (Highlands Course).
