POWELL BUTTE, Ore. - On Sept. 8, the University of Oregon golf team officially kicked off its 2012-2013 season with two days of play at Central Oregon’s Brasada Ranch Canyons Golf Course. This marks the second year the Ducks have started their practice round at the Peter Jacobson-designed course, located just 16 miles northeast of Bend, Ore.

“Brasada Ranch’s Canyons Golf Course provides the perfect setting for our team to start the season,” said Casey Martin, professional golfer and head coach for the University of Oregon golf team. “The course is always in great condition, plays well and presents a challenge to our players.”

Canyons Golf Course is undeniably one of the most beautiful and enjoyable courses in Central Oregon, with panoramic views of the snowcapped Cascades from nearly every hole. The course is a proud member of Preferred Golf, a collection of 100 of the world’s finest golf courses, including Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, The Broadmoor and Gleneagles.

“We enjoy hosting the Duck golf team at Canyons Golf Course,” said Zach Swoffer, director of golf operations for Brasada Ranch. “Providing a venue for these young players is a privilege, and we look forward to having them join us on property for many years to come.”

The University of Oregon golf season runs from Sept. 17 throughout the school year, and includes 12 tournaments. Golf World and the Nike Golf Coaches’ preseason poll recently ranked the Ducks number 14 in the nation, and Golfweek rewarded the team with a number 23 ranking. Under the direction of seventh-year golf coach Martin, the Ducks boast a talented lineup that welcomes five freshman, as well as eight returnees.
