STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 12 University of Oregon men's golf team continued to cruise in Saturday's U.S. Intercollegiate second round and extended its lead on the national-class field by three strokes at the Stanford Golf Course.

Senior Eugene Wong (second, 69-68-137) shot a two-under 68 Saturday for the Ducks' best round of the day. One stroke back, two other teammates also stood top three overall - senior Daniel Miernicki (third-tie, 66-72-138) and redshirt junior Robbie Ziegler (third-tie, 68-70-138).

Rounding out UO's entries, senior Andrew Vijarro (15th-tie, 69-74-143) and freshman Rako Cho (49th-tie, 75-74-149) tied for the team's fourth-best score of the round.

Wong led UO for the 11th round this season and 39th time career-wise. The former Nickalaus Award winner also enjoyed his 16th round of par or better this season to give him 74th career-wise (second-most all-time for UO).

Glancing at his scorecard, the North Vancouver, B.C. native shot five birdies on the day on holes #1, 3, 16-18, had 10 par scores (#2, 4, 6-10, 12, 14, 15), and three bogeys (#5, 11, 13).

Other Duck birdie/par counts from Saturday follow: Miernicki (4/10), Ziegler (4/10), Vijarro (3/10) and Cho (2/12).
 
In the overall team standings, No. 12 UO (272-284-556) stood four strokes under par for the tourney for an eight-stroke lead over No. 8 USC (second, 279-285-564).

Other teams in the top five included No. 8 UCLA (third-tie, 277-291-568), No. 13 Stanford (third-tie, 284-284-568), No. 9 San Diego State (fifth-tie, 285-293-578) and Stanford 'B' (fifth-tie, 284-294-578).

The 17-team field included a sixth and final top-15 team - No. 5 Washington (seventh, 280-300-580).

On the individual leaderboard, Patrick Rodgers of Stanford shot a three-under Saturday to climb six positions, and owned a two-stroke edge over Wong.
