No. 13 Ducks & Miernicki Lead Aggie Invite Day 1

BRYAN, Texas - Senior Daniel Miernicki and the No. 13 University of Oregon men's golf team led the individual and team standings after the first two rounds of the Aggie Invitational held Saturday at the Traditions Golf Club.

Team-wise, UO (376-376-752) owned a seven-stroke on the field with its 32-over score after two rounds.

Host and No. 15 Texas A&M (378-381-759) followed in second place, ahead of No. 28 Oklahoma (third, 384-377-761), No. 1 Texas (fourth, 385-378-763) and No. 30 Oklahoma State (fifth, 393-376-769).

The 10-team field also featured two more top-30 ranked squads - No. 29 Baylor (sixth, 391-386-777) and No. 16 New Mexico (eighth, 396-388-780).

Individually on the par 72, 7,146-yard course, Miernicki carded a one-under score of 143 (73-70). The Santee, Calif., native shot four birdies the first round and five in the second round to go along with 10 par scores in each round.

Miernicki led UO for the seventh and eighth time in a round this year (and 55th and 56th times career-wise). Like-wise, his two-under second round was his 18th of the campaign at par or better and school record 78th career-wise.

The former honorable mention All-American ended Saturday with a one-stroke lead over Victor Perez of New Mexico and Charlie Saxon of Oklahoma who shot the same exact scores and were tied for second place (73-71-144).

Two other Ducks also ranked top 10 overall - senior Eugene Wong (sixth-tie, 73-75-148) and redshirt junior Robbie Ziegler (eighth-tie, 75-74-149).

UO's other entries included freshman Jonathan Woo (32nd-tie, 78-78-156), freshman Ben Itterman (32nd-tie, 77-79-156) and senior Andrew Vijarro (39th-tie, 78-79-157).

Birdie/par counts for the other Oregon entries follow: Wong (4/24), Ziegler (7/19), Woo (4/17), Itterman (3/21) and Vijarro (4/21).
