Release Date: 09/25/2012
After Tuesdays final round, UO (296-287-291-874) ended 14 strokes behind the leader and host St. Mary’s (first, 290-285-285-860). Fresno State followed in second place (289-288-280-867) in the 15-team field.
On the individual front, freshman Sulman Raza (72-74-71) and redshirt senior Tyler Parker (76-68-73) tied for 10th place overall with one-over scores of 217 and their highest career placings.
The Portland, Ore., native Parker also led UO in an event’s final standings for the first time in his career, and logged four birdies on holes #1, 8, 11th and 18th. In Tuesday’s finale, he also carded 10 par scores (#2-6, 9-10, 13-15), three bogeys (#7, 12, 16) and one double bogey (#17).
The Eugene native Raza carded an eagle on the par-four 11th hole, three birdies on the eighth, 13th and 15th holes, 11 par scores (#1, 3, 6, 7, 9-10, 12, 14, 16-18), two bogeys (#2, 5) and one double-bogey (#4). His first under under-par collegiate round also helped him pace UO for the second time in the event and career.
On the par-72, 7,024-yard course, two other Ducks ended with top-25 placings – sophomores Jonathan Woo (20th-tie, 74-74-72-220 (+4)) and Rak Cho (22nd-tie, 74-72-75-221 (+5)) – and Woo posted his seventh career round of par or better.
UO also featured one other team entry – freshman Brandon McIver (42nd–tie, 77-73-78-228 (+12)) – and another individual entry in sophomore Tye Gabriel (52nd-tie, 75-75-80-230 (+14)).
Overall for the event’s 54 holes, three Ducks scored single eagles – Cho, Parker and Raza – and combined Duck birdie/par counts follow: Parker (11/31), Raza (9/34), Raza (9/34), Gabriel (8/27), Cho (7/33), Mc Iver (7/31) and Woo (5/41).
Overall on the individual leaderboard, Ben Geyer of St. Mary’s jumped 18 places Tuesday to win by one stroke (75-72-65 (-4)), thanks to the tourney’s lowest score in the finale.
Jobim Carlos of San Francisco (70-73-70) and Scott Lowe of Santa Clara (72-70-71) followed in a tie for second place with three-under final scores of 213.
Two other players followed in a tie for fourth place with two-under scores of 214.
