BANDON, Ore. – The Oregon men’s golf team took a spot on the team leaderboard and sit in a tie for sixth at the Bandon Dunes Championship on Tuesday on the Pacific Dunes Course. The Ducks carded a 297 (+13) but still has an opportunity to finish in the top five or top three.
Missouri still holds the top spot shooting even par today to head into the final round with a card of 281-284—565 (-3). Utah Valley also stayed in second despite shooting 12-over par today. Jonathan Sanders of Washington vaulted to the top on the individual leaderboard with a 4-under card today, 71-67—138. Mizzou’s Emilio Cuartero was bumped down to second place after shooting 1-over par today.
“We got beat up a bit today,” head coach Casey Martin said. “We were very poor around the greens. The guys are battling but note quite getting it in the hole. We need to get off to a good start tomorrow and see if we can post a good score.”
Thomas Lim was only 1-over par through the first 12 holes before he went bogey, double bogey and bogey to finish out the second round and end up with a final card of 76 (+5) on the day.
Heading into the final round tied for ninth, Lim and McIver are still in the hunt on the individual leaderboard at 2-over.
Sulman Raza also had the same fate as everyone else as the sophomore carded a 78 (+7) on the day thanks to five bogies and a pair of double bogies. After firing in an even par score yesterday, Zach Foushee got hit by the course the hardest. The West Linn, Ore., native was 11-over par today with seven bogies, two double bogies and a triple bogey.
Playing as an individual separate from the team score, Brandon Baumgarten jumped from a tie for 15th to tying for ninth place with teammates Lim and McIver. The freshman has fired in a 1-over par score both days and has a chance to finish in the top-10 for the first time in just his third tournament.
Like Baumgarten, Jonathan Woo also played separate from the team. The lone junior carded a 73 (+1) on the day and sit in a tie for 23rd to round out the top-25 for Oregon.
The Ducks look to move up the standings on the final day of the Bandon Dunes Championship as they tee off at 8:30 a.m. (PT) on Tuesday.
