FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The University of Oregon women’s golf team improved two positions Tuesday to finish third in its season opener, the Ptarmigan Ram Intercollegiate, hosted at the Ptarmigin Country Club.

Individually for UO, senior Kendra Little climbed one spot in the final round and placed seventh overall (68-74-72-214) en route to her 14th career top-10 finish. Tuesday’s par score was the 10th of her collegiate career, while Monday’s 68 opener was her 16th under-par score.

On the par 72, 6,302-yard course, the Eugene native posted four birdies Tuesday on the par-5 second, par-3 sixth, and par-4 ninth and 13th holes; logged 11 par scores (#3, 5, 7-8, 10-12, 15-18); and shook off two bogeys (#1, 4) and one double-bogey (#14).

Two other Ducks placed top 20 as sophomore Cheyenne Hickle (16th-t, 74-72-72-218) and freshman Raphaela Dyer (20th-t, 74-74-71-219) improved three and 10 places, respectively. Junior Ashley Edwards (26th-t, 72-74-75-221) and senior Erica Omlid (40th, 74-76-75-225) rounded out the Duck contingent after both shot 75 in Tuesday’s final round.

Among the remaining Duck birdie counts Tuesday, Dyer enjoyed three, Edwards and Omlid each posted two, and Hickle had one.

In her collegiate debut event, Dyer paced UO for the first time in a round, while Little was UO’s low tourney scorer for the 17th time in her 35th collegiate tourney.

Overall in the individual standings, Idaho’s Kayla Montellaro (first, 70-67-170-207) added a stroke to her lead and won by two strokes over Colorado’s Emily Talley (second, 69-70-70-209).

California’s Pia Halbig finished in third place another two strokes back (71-70-70-211), and first-round leader Kim Kaufman of Texas Tech ended in fourth place (67-72-73-212) in the 95-person field.

Team-wise, UO’s two-over score of 290 Tuesday moved it into third place (288-294-290-872), and only seven strokes shy of winner Colorado (first, 288-290-287-865). No. 12 California followed in second place (294-285-288-867), two strokes back of the Buffaloes.
