TACOMA, Wash. – The No. 17 University of Oregon women’s golf team held onto sixth place in the third and final round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational hosted Wednesday by Washington at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club.

Team-wise, the No. 17 Ducks (307-298-290-895) tied their second-lowest score of the season in the finale with their two-over 290 against the 14-team field that featured six top-40 ranked squads.

Overall in the 14-team standings, No. 13 California (first, 284-283-280-847) surrendered four strokes from its pre-round advantage, but still won by two over No. 2 USC (second, 285-289-275-849).

Rounding out the top five, No. 54 Washington (third, 293-298-286-877) was followed by No. 40 Stanford (fourth-tie, 299-306-289-894) and No. 9 Pepperdine (fourth-tie, 301-295-298-894).

Individually on the par 72, 6,078-yard course, senior Kendra Little (11th-tie, 74-73-72-219) led Oregon in the tourney’s final standings for the 17th time career-wise and second this fall. The Eugene, Ore., native staked her second top-15 effort of the campaign after placing seventh in the season-opening Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins.

Little’s 10th career round at par consisted of four birdies (#3, 5, 10, 16), 10 par scores (#1, 4, 8-9, 11, 13-15, 17-18, and four bogeys (#2, 6-7, 12).

Leading Oregon in Wednesday’s finale, junior Ashley Edwards moved into a tie for 33rd place (82-74-71-227) with her third career one-under-par round of 71, and led UO for the ninth time in a round career-wise (and first time in 2010-11).

The Oakley, Calif., native landed three birdies on the par-4 seventh and par-5 11th and 16th holes, added par scores on 13 holes (#1, 3-6, 8-10, 12-15), and bogeyed twice (#2, 17).

Oregon also counted scores Wednesday from senior Erica Omlid (22nd-t, 76-74-74-224) and freshman Raphaela Dyer (73). The latter player notched her second-best collegiate score – one off her even-par 72 in the Ptarmigan event final round.

Among other birdie counts Wednesday, Omlid and Dyer both logged three.

Overall on the individual leaderboard, Callifornia’s Emily Childs (first, 68-68-136) held on for a three-stroke win over USC’s Lizette Salas (second, 71-71-67-209) and California’s Pia Halbig (third, 74-69-67-210) as the latter duo tied for the best final round.
