No. 22 Ducks Finish Eighth After Two Rounds in Maui

Eugene, Ore.- The University of Oregon women’s golf team (314-298-612) finished in eighth place after two rounds at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic on Monday March 26th. The 22nd ranked Ducks shot 26-over 314 in the first round, and 10-over 298 in the second round at the par 72, 6,022-yard course in Kapalua, Maui.

Senior Ashley Edwards (75-77-152) led the Ducks in the first round, recording her first round leading Oregon as a senior and 15th in her career. The Northern California native finished the day at five-over 152, placing in a tie for 12th after the first round, but dropped 13 spots into a tie for 25th place after the second round.

Fellow teammates Cassy Isagawa (80-72-152) and Cheyenne Hickle (78-74-152) both finished 8-over 152, tied with Edwards for 25th place after two rounds. Freshman Isagawa was the Ducks sharp shooter in the second round, shooting an even par, recording her 15th round with the team’s lowest score and sixth even-par round as a collegian.

At the end of the day, the 14th-ranked Colorado Buffaloes (299-289-588) vaulted into the first place overall in the second round. The Buffs shot one-over 289 in the second round and 12-over 588 on the day, bypassing 15th ranked California. The Cal Bears (295-296) sit three shots behind the leader, shooting 15-over 591 on the day. One shot behind the Bears, No. 13 Tennessee (299-293-592) clinched third place after two rounds, shooting 16-over 592.

Sophomore Raphaela Dyer (82-75-157) rounded out the Ducks scorecard, jumping 14 spots in the second round, finishing the day in 39th place at 13-over 157. Also making the trip, freshman Cali Hipp (81-79-160) placed in a tie for 49th.

On the individual leaderboard, Cal’s Daniela Holmqvist (68-70-138) and Pepperdine’s Alina Ching (69-72-141) remained in first and second place, respectively throughout both rounds today. Holmqvist finished at six-under par and Ching finished at three-under par on the day. Colorado’s Jennifer Coleman (74-71-145) and Jessica Wallace (73-72-145) and Tennessee’s A.J. Newell (72-73-145) finished in a three-way tie for third place at one-over 145.
