Isagawa Cards Five-Under in Pacific Coast Finale

HALF MOON BAY, Calif. - Freshman Cassy Issagwa cruised to a five-under 67 final round to help the No. 21 University of Oregon women's golf team place eighth in Pacific Coast Intercollegiate final-round action Tuesday.

The Wailuku, Hawai'i native tied for fifth overall after she shot five birdies (on holes #6, 9, 13, 14, 15) and par scores on the remaining 13 holes in the final round.

Jumping 20 spots in the final standings Tuesday, her final round was one shy of the tourney best (a six-under 66) - carded by Arizona's Manon Gidali Tuesday.

Junior Cheyenne Hickle (28th-tie, 7-277-71-220) added the team's third, under-par round of the tourney with her one-under 71. The Gilbert, Ariz., native shot three birdies on the back nine (#13, 15, 17), added 13 par scores, and only two bogeys (#6, 10).

Freshman Cali Hipp (40t-tie, 77-74-72-223) also carded her best round of the tourney Tuesday, and shot four birdies (#2, 5, 6, 16), 10 par scores and four bogeys (#9, 10, 15, 18).

UO's other entries included senior Ashley Edwards (49th-tie, 76-74-75-225) and sophomore Raphaela Dyer (59th-tie, 72-81-76-229).

In the overall team standings, No. 1 UCLA (280-283-286-849) featured three individuals in the top five overall and won by six strokes over No. 3 USC (second, 290-287-278-855). The Trojans shot the best round of the tourney Tuesday with their 10-under 278 finale.

The national-caliber field featured seven more top-40 teams - No. 40 Stanford (third, 291-294-283-868), No. 19 Arizona (fourth, 295-294-280-869), No. 29 Washington (288-297-286-871), No. 14 California (sixth, 285-301-286-872), No. 23 UC Davis (seventh, 2997-294-284-875), No. 21 UO (eighth, 297-295-285-877) and No. 16 Oklahoma State (ninth, 296-300-282-878).

In the individual standings, UCLA's Erynne Lee (69-68-71-207) held onto her pre-round placing to win by three strokes over USC's Lisa McCloskey (second, 71-70-69-210).

Looking ahead, UO opens up the championship slate next weekend with the Pac-12 Championships hosted Friday-Sunday, April 27-29, in Pullman, Wash., at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
