EUGENE, Ore.- The University of Oregon women’s golf team announced an impressive addition to its squad after Cathleen Santoso signed with the Ducks for next fall.
The Sydney, Australia native and Presbyterian Ladies’
College Sydney senior ranked first in 2011 in the National Junior Players
rankings and was the New South Wales state junior player of the year.
“We are thrilled to have Cathleen joining our team next year. She brings a wealth of international competitive experience, and will undoubtedly make an immediate impact,” Head Coach Ria Scott said. “She is just the well-rounded student athlete that we look for and know will represent the University of Oregon, and our program at the highest level.”
Earlier this year, Santoso made the cut in the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, a professional event in which she placed in a tie for 61st place. In 2012, she was selected to the Golf Australia National squad and was chosen to represent her country in the Astor Trophy event.
Among notable accomplishments in her career in 2011, Santoso placed fifth in the Srixon Australian Women’s Amateur Strokeplay and then finished as a quarterfinalist in the Srixon Australian Women’s Amateur matchplay. Her biggest achievement in her career came at the Australian Girl’s Amateur Championship, earning medalist honors out of 79 participants.
Santosos arrival will help ease the loss of graduating seniors; Avery Sills, Cheyenne Hickle and Hanule Sky Seo.
