No. 27 Golfers Tied For 14th in Lady Puerto Rico Classic Opener

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The No. 27 University of Oregon women’s golf team opened its spring campaign tied for 14th place Sunday with a 25-over score of 313 in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.

On the Rio Mar Beach Resort course, senior Kendra Little was tied for 31st place with a five-over 77, one stroke ahead of senior Erica Omlid (42nd-t, 78). UO’s other three entries were tied another stroke back with scores of 79 – junior Ashley Edwards, sophomore Cheyenne Hickle and freshman Raphaela Dyer.

Overall in the team standings, No. 1 Alabama held a 10-stroke lead on the 18-team field with a two-under score of 286. No. 6 Purdue and No. 29 Iowa State were tied for second place (300, and No. 33 TCU and No. 44 Florida State were tied for fourth place (303).

In the individual standings, Alabama’s Camilla Lennarth held a one-stroke lead with a two-under 70, and three other players broke par – Gabriella Dominguez of Texas Tech, Jennifer Kirby of Alabama and Maria Salinas of Florida State (second-tie, 71).

Looking ahead, UO returns for second-round action Monday, while action concludes with a third and final round Tuesday.
