SAN DIEGO - The No. 36 Oregon women's golf team was tied for 11th place against another all-star field Sunday after the Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn first round.

The Ducks shot a 309 and stood two places higher than their pre-tourney seeding in the 17-team field that features six top-10 teams, and six more ranked top 30 this week by Golf Stat.

Sophomore Cheyenne Hickle shot a 73 Sunday - one off her season low - and was tied for ninth overall in the individual standings. The Gilbert, Ariz., native led UO for the fourth time in her last six rounds and 15th time among her 43 career rounds as a collegian.

UO also counted scores from senior Kendra Little (34th-t, 76), sophomore Avery Sills (60th-t, 79) and junior Ashley Edwards (72nd-t, 81), and the unit was rounded out by freshman Raphaela Dyer (80th-t, 83).

Sills led UO in birdies with her hat trick on the par-3 second and 13th holes and par-4 10th. Hickle and Little added two each, and Edwards ended with one.

Overall in the team standings, No. 3 UCLA held a one-stroke lead with its five-over 293 over No. 18 UC Davis (second, 294). Other teams in the top five included No. 7 Purdue (third, 295), No. 9 Arizona State (fourth, 297) and No. 1 USC (fifth, 299).

On the individual leaderboard, ASU's Giulia Molinaro led the field by one stroke with her three-under 69. Laura Gonzalez of Purdue trailed in second place (70) and was one of five players that broke par.
