Dyer Paces No. 36 Ducks in Rancho Bernardo 2nd Round

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Freshman Raphaela Dyer led the No. 36 University of Oregon women's golf team for the first time in her eight rounds this spring in Monday's second-day action of the Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn.

The Swanmore, England native climbed 18 positions on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 55th overall (83-74-157).

The Ducks also counted scores in the second round from senior Kendra Little (36th-t, 76-78-154), sophomore Cheyenne Hickle (62nd-t, 73-86-159) and junior Ashley Edwards (69th-t, 81-80-161), while freshman Avery Sills (85th-t, 79-87-166) rounded out the Duck unit.

Dyer carded three birdies Monday on the ninth, 10th and 11th holes, and Little added a pair on the third and 11th holes.

Team-wise, the Ducks stood in 14th place (309-318-627) in the field that features six, top-10 teams and 10 more ranked top 50 this week by Golf Stat.

Overall in the team standings, No. 7 Purdue climbed two spots into the lead (295-292-587).

No. 1 USC improved three positions Monday to move into second place (299-295-594), and was followed by first-day leader and No. 3 UCLA (third, 293-304-597). No. 18 UC Davis (fourth, 294-307-601) and No. 8 Arizona (fifth, 303-302-605) rounded out the top five.

Purdue also boasted the individual leader, Laura Gonzalez (first, 70-71-141), as the Boilermaker held a one-stroke lead on Therese Koelbaek of UNLV (second, 72-70-142).

Action continues in the final round of the three-day event Tuesday at 9 am with tee times off the first and 10th holes.
