TEMPE, Ariz. – Thanks to its three rounds of par or better, the No. 33 University of Oregon women’s golf team was tied for fourth place in Sunday’s first round of the 25th annual Pacific-10 Conference Championships.

On Arizona State’s par 72 Karsten Golf Course, UO was tied with No. 7 Arizona with their two-over, first-round scores of 290 – a total that tied UO’s season low from its last event, the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, and its ninth-best ever.

In the overall team results, No. 2 USC and No. 24 Stanford were tied for the lead with six-under scores of 282. No. 1 UCLA followed two strokes back in third place (284).

Behind Oregon, No. 9 California and No. 10 Arizona State stood sixth and seventh with scores of 293 and 304, respectively. No. 38 Washington (eighth, 307), Oregon State (ninth, 309) and Washington State (10th, 323) rounded out the field.

Logging her best round of the spring by a two-stroke margin, Duck senior Erica Omlid (eighth-tie, 71) was one of three Ducks that ranked top 11 overall.

The Springfield, Ore., native enjoyed her fourth under-par round of the 2010-11 season, and led UO in a round for the fourth time this year and ninth occasion in her career.

Senior Kendra Little and junior Ashley Edwards followed one stroke back at even-par (72) and were tied for 11th place, thanks to their team-leading eighth and seventh scores of par or better of the campaign.

Freshman Raphaela Dyer rounded out UO’s scoring (25th-tie, 75) - one stroke ahead of sophomore Cheyenne Hickle (27th-tie, 76) who logged the second-best score among the 10 teams’ fifth players Sunday.

Glancing at the team's scorecards, Omlid turned in three birdies on the first, fifth and sixth holes, parred 13 holes and also carded two bogeys.

Three other Ducks added also posted three birdies - Little (#6, 9, 12), Edwards (#8, 12, 17) and Hickle (#4, 8, 12) - and Dyer ended with two (#10, 12).

On the individual leaderboard, UCLA’s Tiffany Lua fired a four-under 68 to lead by one stroke. USC’s Sophia Popov and Cyna Rodriguez followed in a tie for second place with Stanford’s Marissa Mar with three-under scores of 69.
