TEMPE, Ariz. – For the second straight day, senior Erica Omlid
carded the lowest round for the No. 33 University of Oregon women’s golf team in middle-round action Monday in the 25th annual Pacific-10 Conference Championships.
Team-wise, UO dropped two positions to sixth place (290-306-596) in the 10-team field that features five top-10 programs, and three more ranked top 40.
No. 2 USC (282-291-573) assumed sole control of first place, and ended the second round with a seven-stroke lead over No. 7 Arizona (second-tie, 290-290-580) and No. 24 Stanford (second-tie, 282-298-580).
No. 1 UCLA dropped a position to fourth place (284-300-584), four strokes ahead of No. 9 California (fifth, 293-295-588).
Other teams in the field trailing Oregon included No. 10 Arizona State (seventh, 304-296-600), No. 38 Washington (eighth, 307-299-606), Oregon State (ninth, 309-304-613) and Washington State (10th, 323-315-638).
On ASU's par-72 Karsten Golf Course, Omlid (14th, 71-75-146) led UO for the fifth time among her 20 rounds this campaign, and 10th time career-wise.
Other Duck scorers Monday included senior Kendra Little (20th-t, 72-77-149), junior Ashley Edwards (20th-t, 72-77-149) and freshman Raphaela Dyer (29th, 75-77-152), while sophomore Cheyenne Hickle (34th-t, 76-78-154) rounded out the Duck unit.
Glancing at the team's scorecards, Dyer logged the most second-round birdies for the Ducks with her pair on the par-four second and par-five 17th holes. UO’s other four entries all logged one birdie (with the hole # in ()) - Omlid (#1), Little (#14), Edwards (#17) and Hickle (#17).
Overall on the individual leaderboard, UCLA’s Tiffany Lua (68-72-140) was tied for the lead with USC’s Sophia Popov (69-71-140), and Trojan teammate Cyna Rodriguez followed one stroke back in third place (69-72-141).
