No. 21 Ducks continue fourth place roll in San Jose

EUGENE, Ore.- After two rounds, the No.21-ranked University of Oregon women’s golf (297-300-597) team placed fourth overall at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational on Monday March 5. The Ducks finished 21-over after the second round at the par 72, 6,169-yard course in San Jose, Calif.

After the first round, the team finished at nine-over 297 with freshman Cassy Isagawa (69-76-145) leading the field at three-under par. At the end of the day, Isagawa finished in a tie for fifth place at one-over 145. The Wailuku, Hawai'i native recorded her 13th round as the UO leader and has shot nine under-par rounds.

At the end of the day, the 23rd-ranked Cal Bears (287-296-583) stayed in first place through both rounds and finished at seven-over 583. Five shots behind Cal, 25th-ranked UC Davis (295-293-588) claims the runner-up position after Monday’s two-round event. In third place, No. 13 Washington (296-300-596) is 20 shots over par, one shot behind the Huskies, while the Ducks sit in fourth place.

Senior Ashley Edwards (72-76-148) shot four-over on the day and placed in a tie for 12th. Edwards hit her fifth career par round in the first round of the event.  She tied with fellow Duck Cali Hipp (73-75-148) for 12th place at four-over.  The Caldwell, Idaho native had the low score in the second round for the Ducks and has now led UO for four rounds in her collegiate career.

On the individual leaderboard, Cal’s Daniela Holmqvist (71-69-140) clinched the number one spot at four-under on the day. One shot behind her, fellow teammate Joanne Lee (71-70-141) finished in second place after two rounds. Demi Runas (74-69-143) of UC Davis jumped up 13 spots from the first round, rounding out the top three golfers. 

The Ducks also counted a scorecard from sophomore Raphaela Dyer (81-75-156) who improved from the first round, jumping 21 spots into a tie for 29th place after shooting three-over 75 in the second round. Also making the trip was freshman Monica Petchakan (86-79-165).
