TEMPE, Ariz.- After completing the first round of the Ping/ASU Invitational, the Ducks finish the day in 16th place. The three-day three-round tournament is played at Arizona State University’s Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.

The Ducks look to improve on today’s finish after shooting 23-over 311 at the 6,223 yard, par-72 course.  

Senior Avery Sills shot the best round for Ducks shooting three-over 75, her first time this Spring with the team-best score. Sills finished the round in a tie for 48th place.

Freshman Caroline Inglis carded a five-over 77 and completed the round in a tie for 66th place. One stroke back from Inglis, sophomore Cassy Isagawa shot a six-over 78 and sits in a tie for 73rd place.

On the individual scoreboard, Duke’s Laetitia Beck and Washington’s Jennifer Yang finished the first round in a tie for first place after shooting five-under 67. There is a five-way tie for third place, shooting four-under 68.

The Ducks also counted a scorecard from sophomore Cali Hipp, shooting a nine-over 81 and finishing in 80th place. Also making the trip was sophomore Monica Petchakan, who shot a 10-over 82.

UCLA sits in first place after shooting nine-under 279. One shot behind the Bruins is Duke at eight-under 280, while USC finished four shots behind the leader at 283.
