EUGENE, Ore. – University of Oregon women’s golfer Cassy Isagawa has been named to GolfWorld magazine’s Top-50 Female Players to Watch List for the upcoming season, a ranking compiled by senior writer Ryan Herrington.  The results will appear in the Sept. 2, 2013, issue of GolfWorld.

“Cassy has worked extremely hard this summer and is ready to go for the season,” said Oregon head women’s golf coach Ria Scott. “I think she has only scratched the surface on what she is capable of doing in college golf. There are thousands of college golfers out there, and it is an honor for Cassy to be recognized in an elite group of 50.”

The Ducks are one of seven Pac-12 teams to have a student-athlete named to the watch list, while 16 players from the conference appeared in the list.

Isagawa, a native of Wailuku, Hawai’i, ended the 2012-13 season ranked No. 22 in the nation by Golfstat.com.

She enters her junior season with as impressive of a rèsumè as any Oregon golfer to hit the links.  She set the program record for lowest single-season scoring average (72.7) as a freshman, and nearly set it again as a sophomore (72.86). Isagawa is a two-time All-Pac-12 selection. She was named second team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association as a freshman.

Isagawa and the Ducks open the fall season Sept. 14-15, traveling to East Lansing, Mich., for the Mary Fossum Invitational. The tournament will be played on the Forest Akers West Golf Course.
