SAMMAMISH, Wash. -- Sophomore Caroline Inlgis earned her second top five finish of the season, leading the University of Oregon women’s golf team to a strong result at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational. The No. 31 Ducks placed fourth – their third straight top five team finish – with a 56-hole score of 903 (+39).

Oregon shot a 313 (+25) in Wednesday’s final rounds after opening with rounds of 296 (+8) and 294 (+6) Tuesday. The tournament was held at the prestigious Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. 11th-ranked Stanford bested the field with an 863 (-1) while top-ranked Washington finished runner-up with an 890 (+26).

The Ducks have been in the top five of the team leaderboard after every one of their nine rounds this season. Before this week’s fourth place showing at Sahalee, Oregon placed fifth at the Mary Fossum Invitational and second at the UNM Dick McGuire Invitational.

Inglis placed fifth with a three-round score of 221 (+5) after shooting a 5-over, 77, in today’s final round. She made birdie on the second and sixth holes and finished the round with 11 pars. She opened the tournament with a 71 (-1) and 73 (+1). Inglis has placed in the top 11 individually in all three tournaments this season.

“I played pretty solid in both rounds yesterday,” said Inglis. “Today was a little bit tougher. I didn’t hit the ball as well but I was putting well every round, and I think that’s what I will take away from this tournament.”

The Ducks were also led by a pair of freshman, as newcomers Marcella Pranovia and Cathleen Santoso tied for 16th in the 68-player field with a 54-hole score of 225 (+9).

Playing for the first time in Oregon’s top five lineup, Pranovia carded rounds of 76 (+4), 73 (+1) and 76 (+4) to secure a top 20 finish. Pranovia’s 4-over final round was Oregon’s lowest round of the day. She made birdie on the par-four seventh hole and tallied 12 pars in an even-keeled round.

Santoso secured a third straight top 20 individual finish, tying for 16th with rounds of 76 (+4), 72 (+2) and 77 (+5).  She shot a 39 (+3) on the front nine and a 38 (+2) on the closing side with a birdie on the par-three, 165-yard 17th hole.

Junior Cassy Isagawa tied for 34th after carding an 11-over, 83, in her final round. She finished at 232 (+16) on the tournament after opening with two steady rounds; 73 (+1) and 76 (+4). Although she didn’t have a single number worse than bogey on her scorecard, Isagawa only made two birdies and three pars in her final round to slip to 34th.

Junior Monica Petchakan tied for 67th with a 54-hole score of 257. She made six pars in today’s closing round.

The scoring average in today’s final round jumped to 78.42, nearly two strokes higher than the second round’s average.

Oregon returns to action Oct. 25-27, competing in Stanford, Calif., at the Stanford Invitational.
