RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- Freshman Marcella Pranovia led No. 21 Oregon in the first round of the SDSU Farms Invitational, carding her second-best round of the season. The Ducks shot a 311 (+23) team score at the Farms Golf Club and sit in 12th place out of 17 teams through Monday’s first round.
Sophomore Caroline Inglis - who provides the team’s third best round average - withdrew from her round, leaving UO to count scores from its four remaining competitors. Pranovia carded a one-over par, 73, to lead head coach Ria Scott’s squads, but the Ducks struggled without a fifth potential counting score. No. 2 UCLA leads the tournament after carding a 285 (-3), while UCLA’s Allison Lee leads all individuals at four-under par.
Pranovia, hailing from Bali, Indonesia, is currently tied for 11th in the 93-player field and is in the hunt for her first collegiate top 10 finish. She went even par on the front nine with birdies on the sixth and eighth holes before firing a 37 (+1) on the back side with birdies on holes No. 12, 16 and 18.
Freshman Cathleen Santoso, coming off her first collegiate tournament victory, is tied for 28th place. The Sydney, Australia, native fired a 75 (+3) with a birdie on the 10th hole and 13 pars. After playing the front nine at four-over, Santoso broke par on the back side to get a stroke back.
Junior Cassy Isagawa fired a 76 (+4) and is tied for 36th. The two-time All-Pac-12 selection made a birdie on the par-five third hole and notched 12 pars on her scorecard.
Tuesday’s second round will begin with tee times at 8 through 10 a.m. (PST) at the Farms Golf Club. UO’s tee times will run between 8 and 8:36 a.m. off hole No. 10. Oregon will be paired with New Mexico and Oklahoma State.
