CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The No. 30 Oregon women’s golf team completed the first round at the Pac-12 Championship on Friday, battling a loaded field and frequent inclement weather. The Ducks carded a 300 (+12) at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Ore., and are tied for eighth place.
The Ducks played the front nine at 3-over par amongst their counting scorers. The backed nine provided a stiffer challenge for the field, and UO played the final nine at 9-over. A hail storm delayed action for nearly an hour and a half in today’s round, while rain showers persisted throughout most of the day.
Second-ranked UCLA leads the field after firing a 3-under, 285. The Pac-12 Championship consists of nine ranked teams, including six teams ranked in the top 11 by Golfstat. Stanford’s Mariko Tumangan sits atop the individual leaderboard after firing a 5-under, 67.
“We’re looking forward to revising our strategy on a few holes we played poorly today and dropping a few more putts tomorrow,” said head coach Ria Scott. “We were proud that our players didn’t complain once about the conditions Mother Nature presented today. In fact, we were quite lucky that the weather held off as long as it did.”
Junior Cassy Isagawa led the Ducks with a 2-over par 74 and is tied for 20th individually. The two-time All-Pac-12 selection carded a 37 (+1) on both sides, turning in a clean scorecard with 16 pars and two bogeys. Isagawa’s 16 pars was tied for the most by any competitor.
Sophomore Caroline Inglis and freshman Cathleen Santoso are one stroke back, tied for 29th on the leaderboard after each carded a 75 (+3). Inglis went even par on the front nine and finished with birdies on holes No. 6 and 17. Santoso carded steady nines of 37 (+1) and 38 (+2), making a birdie on the 17th hole while notching 13 pars.
Freshman Marcella Pranovia fired a 4-over 76 and is tied for 36th. The Bali, Indonesia, native got to 1-under par through five holes with birdies on holes three and five, and finished with sides of 37 and 39.
With an opening round 77 (+5), senior Raphaela Dyer is tied for 44th. Dyer birdied the ninth hole and went 1-over on the front nine with seven pars. She had a streak of three straight bogeys on the back side, but finished with a steady round just one stroke away from providing a counting score.
Tee assignments for tomorrow’s second round from Trysting Tree will get underway at 9 a.m. (PT). The Ducks will tee off hole No. 10 from 9-9:32 a.m. (PT), and are paired with No. 35 California.
