BERKELEY, Calif. - The No. 62 ranked University of Oregon men's tennis team (15-5, 0-4 Pac-12) completed their three-dual road trip through California with a loss at the hand of No. 12 ranked Cal (11-7, 4-0 Pac-12), 7-0, on Saturday (Apr. 7) at the Hellman Tennis Complex.

The victory for Cal is their fourth conference win in a row while the Ducks return to Eugene still in search of their first Pac-12 dual win.

"All in all, I thought we played well and gave ourselves opportunities," said men's head coach Nils Schyllander.  "I thought Cal did a good job when the sets got close, that's where we want to get to.  You have to capitalize against a team like that."

California, coming off a 7-0 victory over No. 22 Washington on Friday (Apr. 7), handled the Ducks in dominant fashion winning every match in singles and doubles.  As was the case in Stanford, Oregon was close to capitalizing in the doubles playing in three closes matches against the Golden Bears, but were unable to carry any momentum into the singles.

The Ducks had another hopeful performance from the true freshman Daniel Sardu.  For Sardu, playing in just his fourth Pac-12 conference dual was again able to challenge his singles opponent and go deep into games.  Facing the No. 39 ranked single player in Cal's Carlos Cueto, Sardu battled, but in the end fell, 7-5, 6-1.  Sardu's 13-6 singles record is good for second-best on the team with just three duals remaining before the Pac-12 Championships.

Oregon next takes to the courts on Friday (Apr. 13) when the Ducks take on the Wildcats of the University of Arizona at 1:30 p.m.  The weather will decide whether or not the match is played outdoors at the 18th Street courts on indoors at the Student Tennis Center.

"The guys know we have a big week coming up, but with a good week of practice I know we'll be ready to go," added Schyllander.
