DAVIS, Calif. -- The University of Oregon men’s tennis team won 7-of-9 matches in day two of the Aggie Invitational at the Myra Welch Tennis Center on Saturday. The Ducks - who are now 17-5 in all matches at the invitational - were led by 3-0 performances from senior Robin Cambier, sophomore Kevin Farin and freshman Jayson Amos.

Cambier and Farin advanced to the finals of the ITA Aggie doubles bracket, winning both of their matches on the day. The second-seeded duo edged out Stanford’s Anthony Tsodikov and Jamin Ball in the quarterfinals by an 8-6 margin. The Oregon tandem cruised to a decisive victory in the semifinals by defeating Santa Clara’s Ashot Khacharyan and Sam Bertram 8-4. Cambier and Farin will meet Portland’s fourth-seeded duo of Alex Ferrero and Ratan Gill in the finals.

The Ducks were also led by Cambier and Farin in singles action, as each won their quarterfinals match in the ITA Aggie singles bracket. Top-seeded Cambier defeated Fresno State’s Sam MacNeil in a tightly contested three-set match. Cambier won the first set 6-4, and claimed the third set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (3) after dropping the second set. Farin’s match with Michael Hukwo of Portland also went three sets, but Farin prevailed 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

Freshman Jayson Amos stayed perfect in the ITA Big West singles bracket, reaching the semifinals with a dominating win over Pacific’s Ben Mirkin. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native only dropped three games in his straight set victory, winning 6-2, 6-1.

Amos also fared well in doubles play with teammate Joey Swaysland, reaching the consolation finals match of the ITA Aggie doubles bracket with two victories. They defeated Nevada’s Andrew Poustie and Fernando Sunago 8-5 in the consolation quarterfinals. In the semifinals, the Oregon pair posted a dominant 8-2 score line on UC Davis’ Adam Luba and Kyle Miller. Amos and Swaysland will meet Pacific’s Alex Hamilton and Eric Cedarwall in the consolation finals match.

Sophomore Brent Chin and freshman Alex Marcinkowski advanced past the quarterfinals of the ITA Big West doubles bracket by injury default, but they were defeated 8-2 in the semifinals.

Tomorrow’s final rounds of the Aggie Invite will get underway at 9 a.m. (PT), beginning with doubles finals matches followed by singles semifinals and finals.
