EUGENE, Ore. – Three University of Oregon men’s tennis players earned 2014 Pac-12 Men’s Tennis All-Academic honors, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Thursday. Junior Daniel Sardu and sophomore Daan Maasland were named to the all-academic second team, while senior Robin Cambier received honorable mention accolades.
To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must be in at least their second year with their University, maintain a 3.0 grade point average and be a starter or significant contributor.
A three-year letter winner from Sopron, Hungary, Sardu is majoring in Business Administration with a 3.56 GPA. On the court, Sardu has steadily climbed UO’s record books and now ranks sixth in program history in both career singles (58) and doubles (57) wins. This year, Sardu posted a 17-10 singles record and a 17-13 record in doubles.
Maasland, hailing from Geldrop, Netherlands, a Business Administration pre-major with a 3.65 GPA. In two seasons at Oregon, Maasland has posted a 37-15 mark in singles and a 32-13 mark in doubles. He led the heart of UO’s lineup this season, competing primarily in No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles.
Cambier – UO’s all-time winningest player – is a Business Administration major with a 3.35 GPA. Cambier posted a 93-31 doubles mark and a 90-43 singles mark in his collegiate career, both of which are program records.
