AKRON, Ohio - The Oregon Ducks fell to the University of Akron, 4-3, on the road on Sunday morning.

The loss snapped the Ducks' eight-match winning streak to start the year.  

Oregon is now 8-1 overall; the Zips improved to 5-5.

Sophomore Nicole Long continued her impressive conference-leading winning streak by defeating Prang Pantusart in the No. 2 match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.  Long has now won 13 straight singles matches and is 16-2 overall.  Oregon's other two victories on Sunday came from Julia Metzger in the No. 3 match, 6-3, 6-1, and Rabea Stueckemann in the No. 6 slot (6-2, 6-2).

For Metzger, it was her fifth straight win and eighth in her last 10 tries.  Stueckemann has now won four consecutive singles matches for the Ducks.

Akron took the doubles point from Oregon by winning two out of three matches to start the day.  Oregon's lone doubles win came from Metzger and Lana Buttner, who beat Madison Cohen and Angelika Jogasuria, 8-3.

Long and Patricia Skowronski lost for the first time in dual doubles matches this year, dropping an 8-4 match to Akron's nationall-ranked duo (No. 43) of Prang Pantusart and Angelina Jogasuria.

The Ducks finish their first road trip of the season at 1-1; they knocked off East Tennessee State in Akron yesterday, 4-3.  Oregon will have nearly three weeks off before it opens a six-match home slate beginning on March 8 against Brigham Young.  Match time from Eugene is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
