EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 72 ranked University of Oregon women's tennis team will take to the road for the first time since Jan. 29 against the Pac-12 Arizona schools this weekend (Mar. 23-24).
Oregon (8-3) has leaned heavily on their only senior, Trudie du Toit. The Abbotsford, British Columbia native is 8-2 in singles play while posting a 7-3 record at No. 2 doubles with junior Julia Metzger in the last 10 matches.
Arizona State (8-3) comes into the dual against the Ducks as the No. 30 ranked team in the country. The Sun Devils are coming off of a 5-2 loss against Washington State in Pullman, Wash. ASU is led by the No. 9 ranked singles player sophomore Jacqueline Cako. The dual will take place in Tempe, Ariz. at the Whiteman Tennis Center on Friday (Mar. 23) at 1:30 p.m.
The Ducks will then travel to Tucson, Ariz. to take on the Wildcats of the University of Arizona. Arizona (10-4) will first face the University of Washington on Friday (Mar. 23) before dueling with the Ducks on Saturday (Mar. 24) at 12 p.m. Arizona is led by the No. 79 and No. 85 ranked singles players in the country in Lacey Smyth and Natasha Marks. The U of A also sports two doubles tandems ranked inside the top 100 by ITA. Smyth and Marks are ranked No. 45 while Marks and teammate Kim Stubbe make up the No. 73 ranked pairing. The Wildcats have not lost a match at home this year.
Oregon will wrap up their trip to Arizona with one non-conference neutral site dual by matching up with the University of Northern Arizona on Monday (Mar. 26) at 11:00 a.m. in Phoenix, Ariz. The Lumberjacks (5-9) are coming off a 7-0 home loss to Akron on Mar. 12. The match against Oregon will be after taking on Montana and Montana State at home on Mar. 23 and 24, respectively.
