COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- The Oregon Ducks women’s tennis team is set to compete in the United States Air Force Academy Invitational this weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo. The three-day tournament begins Friday, Oct. 5 at the Academy's outdoor tennis facility. Play starts at 9 a.m. each day and admission is free to all fans.

Joining the Ducks this weekend are players from Air Force, Arizona, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma State, South Dakota State, Texas Tech, Washington State and Wyoming.

"We're excited to be here at Air Force for the first tournament of the year for most of our kids [Julia Metzger participated in the ITA All-American]," said head coach Paul Reber. "Practice has been going very well, but it's time for us to get on the court and compete. With three teams from the Pac-12 here and some other top teams, it should be a very tough tournament and we're looking forward to playing."

The first round of singles play begins on Friday at 2:15 p.m. MT, and several Ducks will be taking the courts at that time. Oregon’s senior Julia Metzger will face off against North Carolina’s Elizabeth Tapia. Sophomore Nicole Long will also go up against a Tar Heel as she will play Jenn Buchanon. Junior Rabea Stueckemann is scheduled to battle Colorado State’s Abby Stevens. Freshman Brooke Hughes is set to experience her first collegiate competition against another Colorado State player in Kendall Heitzner. Senior Lena Macomson earned a bye in the first round and will begin her day at 1:00 p.m. MT against Denver University’s Michelle Garpenlov.

At 10:15 a.m. MT, Long and Hughes will begin doubles play against Colorado State’s Heitzner and Schulz. Meanwhile Metzger and junior Pascale Neubert will take on Denver University’s Schnell and Eerenbeemt. Also at 10:15, Macomson and Stueckemann will team up against Air Force’s Hueffner and Magday.
