Ducks Lose First Home Match of the Year, 5-2, to Washington

EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 55 Oregon Ducks fell to the No. 43 Washington Huskies, 5-2, on Friday afternoon in Eugene.

The loss snapped the Ducks' 11-match home winning streak.  Oregon dropped to 10-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while the Huskies improved to 11-4 and 1-2 in Pac-12 play.

The Ducks dropped the doubles point to start the day, losing two out of three to the visiting Huskies.  Nicole Long and Patricia Skowronski recorded the only doubles win of the day, winning the No. 1 match, 8-5.

In singles play, Long extended her winning streak to 16 matches with a 6-0, 7-5 triumph in the No. 1 match.  The only other win in singles play was posted by Julia Metzger in the No. 3 match.  Metzger's three-set win (5-7, 6-4, (10-3)) was her ninth-straight victory.

Oregon will have less that 48 hours before its next match.  On Sunday, the Ducks host No. 65 Washington State in Eugene.  Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
