EUGENE, Ore. – Head coach Paul Reber announced the signing of five-star athlete Alyssa Tobita of Mililani High School Thursday evening. The Mililani, Hawaii, native is a three-time Hawaii High School Athletic Association champion. Tobita also led the Trojans to their sixth-straight Oahu Interscholastic Association title this past spring, her third since attending Mililani.
“Alyssa is a tough competitor and a great athlete,” said assistant coach Maja Kovacek. “She is the type of player who will be a consistent performer and will make everyone on her team better.”
Tobita is currently ranked 36th in the nation according to Tennisrecruiting.net and the second-highest ranked recruit in Hawaii. Overall, she holds a 31-10 mark against opponents in amateur tournaments while going 9-0 against other five-star recruits.
“Alyssa is the highest ranked recruit we had in many years,” said Kovacek. “We couldn't be more excited to have Alyssa on our team!”
In her most recent championship run at the HHSAA tournament, Tobita lost just 12 games in five matches on her way to claiming her third-consecutive singles title.
Her resume also boasts singles championships at the Pearl Harbor Junior Challenge, Pearl Harbor Easter Junior Championships, Wailuku Winter Junior Sectionals and the United States Tennis Association’s Spring Junior Section Championships. She also took runner-ups in multiple singles tournaments to go along with her championships.
Tobita is just as dominant in doubles play, winning titles at the USTA Junior Championship and Spring Junior Section Championships while taking runner-up honors at the USTA Junior Section Championships and Wailuku Winter Junior Championships.
