Salibasic Set to Join Ducks for 2014 Season

EUGENE, Ore. – Head women’s tennis coach Paul Reber announced the signing of Maja Salibasic, who will join the Ducks for the upcoming 2014 season. Salibasic comes to Oregon from Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I had the opportunity to see Maja play and was impressed with her ability and potential,” said Reber. “I think she is going to be able to come in January and help the team a great deal.”

The Bosnian native was once the top-ranked junior player in her country in the 10, 12, 14 and 16 under categories. She has competed in multiple Tennis Europe 16 & under tournaments and currently ranked 1229 according to TE. Salibasic has also played in several junior International Tennis Federation tournaments and Women’s Futures tournaments.

The First-Line Tennis Academy in Germany was the main training ground for Salibasic where she won multiple tournaments. While at the FLTA, she defeated Iva Primorac who had an 875 WTA ranking.

Salibasic also trains with her brother Alen, who is currently a junior playing at Drake.
