WOODLAND, Calif.- The University of Oregon lacrosse team had 11 student-athletes named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Scholar-Athletes by MPSF Executive Director Al Beaird on Tuesday afternoon.
The 11 Ducks selected was second-most in the conference behind 12 selections from California. Denver was the only other squad to tally double-figure honorees with 10.
Sophomore Caroline Federighi, who has a 4.04 GPA, had not only the highest GPA earned by a Duck, but was the highest overall in the conference. The only other recipient with at least a 4.00 was Saint Mary's Holly Hayes, who has a 4.00.
This is the second time in program history that Oregon has had 11 selections with the other occasion happening in 2006. The highest number of Ducks tabbed MPSF All-Academic was 12 in 2008.
UO finished the season 14-5 with a 10-9 loss at the hands of Navy in the NCAA Play-In Match. The match was the first postseason appearance by the Ducks in program history.
The honor was based on the following criteria:
1. 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average.
2. Student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically.
3. Student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is being received.
4. Student-athlete must have competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition in his or her respective sport.
