Talkin' Duck: Keeping the Focus on Football
Monday, November 2, 2009
The focus of the college sports world is no doubt on Oregon and what the Ducks did to USC. But make no mistake, while the nation and the fans pat the Ducks on the back for last Saturdays domination, the team is already past it.
This morning's post practice interviews were all about Stanford and its one-two punch in the backfield of Andrew Luck and Toby Gerhart. And it wasn't the media asking about Stanford, it was the players volunteering what's on their minds. Not USC....but the Cardinal. I only mention this because it's surprising how many emails I've received from fans worrying that the Ducks will overlook Stanford after that emotional USC win. Not gonna happen.
By the way the Ducks came out of the USC game in relatively good shape physically. And no word on LeGarrette Blount. Coach Kelly will let us know what's going on when a decison is made.
Men's basketball is underway with their exhibition win over Concordia last night. The women open up tomorrow night against Southern Oregon. You really should get season tickets. This season is going to be very entertaining on both the men's and the women's side. Plus you'll get a better selection on seats next year in the new Matt Knight Arena.
Next Sunday's games will mark the start of the OSN broadcast of both men's and women's basketball.
Tara Erickson joins me on 'Go Ducks Live' tomorrow morning and I'll have highlights from Chip Kelly's Monday morning press conference as well.
And congrats to LaMichael James for being named Pac-10 offensive player of the week.
