JUST THE FACTS: OREGON MARCHING BAND
This edition of "Just the Facts" corrects inaccuracies in a recent letter published in the Daily Emerald regarding band funding.
- The Oregon Marching Band is a 2-credit class called MUS 395: Top Marching Band. Students enrolled pay a fee(s) for the class. This fee does not go to the athletic department.
- There is no official reporting line of the Oregon Marching Bands to the Athletic Department. Oregon Athletic Band staff reports to the School of Music.
- The athletic department currently funds the band at $250,000 per year, which does not include bowl travel expenses.
- Other than a few emails sent to athletic department staff in late November, we have not had an in-depth discussion with the ASUO regarding their proposal to eliminate their portion of band funding.
