BOULDER, Colo. -- The University of Oregon women’s basketball team lost 84-59 to No. 21 Colorado on Sunday afternoon at Coors Events Center in Boulder, Colo. With the victory the Buffaloes improved to 18-5 overall and 7-5 in Pac-12 Conference action. The Ducks fell to 3-21 on the year and 1-11 in conference play.
UO was led offensively by Amanda Delgado (15 points) and Danielle Love (14 points) who combined to score 29 of UO’s 59 points. Jordan Loera contributed nine points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. Liz Brenner added a team-best 10 rebounds, the fourth time this season she’s reached double-figures on the glass.
The Ducks made 38.6 percent of their field goal attempts (22-of-57) which included a season-best 46.2 percent in the first half (12-of-26). Oregon also finished the game with a season-high 44.4 percent on 3-pointers (8-of-18).
Colorado was led by Chucky Jeffery who registered a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Brittany Wilson had a team-high 16 points, one of four Buffaloes to score in double-figures. Lexy Kresl added 12 points and Rachel Hargis chipped in with 10 points.
The Buffaloes made 44.9 percent of their field goals (31-of-69), while making a season-best 10-of-20 from behind the 3-point arc (50 percent).
CU had advantages for points in the paint (36-16), points off turnovers (29-9) and second-chance points (17-2). Colorado also had a 42-33 rebounding advantage in the game.
Delgado hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Love hit a pair of mid-range jumpers to give UO a 10-3 lead with 17:45 in the first half. The Buffaloes countered with a 13-0 run to retake the lead, 16-10, at the 13:07 mark in the stanza.
Alleyne scored inside on a spin move and Brenner made two interior baskets to cut the lead to one point, 23-22 with a little over eight minutes to play. UO retook the lead on the next possession when Janitah Iamaleava, who had just checked into the game, hit a 3-pointer to give the Ducks a 25-23 advantage.
Colorado heated up from behind the 3-point arc, nailing a pair of threes as part of a 14-0 run to make the score 37-25 with 4:30 on the clock.
CU had a 12-point halftime advantage, 43-31, and was led offensively by Brittany Wilson who had 12 points. The Ducks were led by Delgado’s nine points as she made 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Oregon made 46.2 percent of its field goals and had five players score four-or-more points in a balanced first-half scoring attack.
The Buffaloes opened the second half on a 10-2 run and jumped out to a 53-33 lead with 16:47 remaining in the game.
Love kept the Ducks in it as she scored on a lay-up, hit back-to-back 3-pointers and made a pair of free throws for UO over the first seven minutes of the second half. The Colorado lead was 17 points, 60-43, with 13:18 on the clock.
Delgado made two long 3-pointers, her fourth and fifth 3-pointers of the game, to put the score at 67-49 with just over 10 minutes to play.
Colorado’s largest lead of the game was 27 points, 84-57, with 24 seconds remaining in the game.
Oregon (3-21, 1-11 Pac-12) returns home to play Washington (Feb. 15) and Washington State (Feb. 17). Tip-time for the Ducks-Huskies game is scheduled for 7 p.m. (PT), while the UO-WSU game is slated for Sunday at 4 p.m.
