Oregon Loses On The Road To No. 11 Cal

BERKELEY, Calif. -- The Oregon Ducks lost on the road, 7-0, to No. 11 California on Friday afternoon in Berkeley, Calif.

Oregon fell to 12-7 overall and 1-6 in conference play.  California improved to 12-5 overall and 6-1 in the Pac-12.

The Ducks fell in all three doubles matches to start the day in a 1-0 hole.  Nicole Long teamed with Patricia Skowronski in the No. 1 match and Julia Metzger played alongside Pascale Neubert in the No. 2 match.  Both Oregon pairs fell to nationally-ranked opponents.  

In singles play, Annie Goransson knocked off Rabea Stueckemann in the No. 5 match, 6-0, 6-1, and the Golden Bears took a 3-0 lead when No. 80 Klara Fabikova beat Skowronski in the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-1.  No. 6 Anett Schutting then clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over No. 102 Long.  Tayler Davis beat Lana Buttner in the No. 4 match, Metzger fell to No. 57 Lynn Chi in the No. 3 match and Brooke Hughes fell in three sets in the No. 6 match to wrap up the day.

Oregon will have less than 24 hours before its next match.  Tomorrow, the Ducks face No. 12 Stanford in Stanford, Calif., at 12 p.m.
