No. 12 Stanford Tops Oregon

STANFORD, Calif. -- The Oregon Ducks lost a 7-0 decision to Stanford on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Oregon dropped to 12-8 overall and 1-7 in conference play.  The 12th-ranked Cardinal improved to 13-3 and 6-1 in the Pac-12.

Oregon lost 2-of-3 in doubles play to start the day but its No. 1 duo of Patricia Skowronski and Nicole Long beat No. 80 Stacey Tan and Ellen Tsay, 8-7, to cap the round. Lana Buttner and Pascale Neubert fell 8-5 in the No. 2 match and Brooke Hughes and Sofia Hager dropped the No. 3 match, 8-4.

In singles competition, Oregon's top-four competitors all faced nationally-ranked opponents.  Long lost a 6-2, 6-2 match to No. 30 Kristie Ahn in the No. 1 slot and No. 14 Krista Hardebeck beat Skowronski, 6-3, 6-1, in the No. 2 match.  In addition, No. 93 Tan beat Hager, 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3 position and No. 51 Tsay topped Buttner, 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 4 match.

Rabea Stueckemann and Hughes fell in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches, respectively, to wrap up the day.

The Ducks conclude their three-day trip in the Bay Area with a win over No. 67 San Francisco on Thursday and two hard-fought losses to No. 11 California and No. 12 Stanford.  Next weekend, Oregon finishes its Pac-12 regular season schedule with home matches against No. 9 UCLA (April 12) and No. 5 USC (April 14).
