The first volleyball player in NCAA history to record more than 2,000 kills, she was equally brilliant in the classroom. She was a four-time team most valuable player and Academic All-American and she earned first team All-America status in 1985. She led the NCAA in kills average as a junior with 5.4 per game and set five additional school records, all of which were still standing more than 10 years later.

She received the University’s Higdon Award following her sophomore year and in 1985, became the first female to be awarded the Emerald Athletic Trophy. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in mathematics and physical education and a near 4.0 grade average.She also was honored with an NCAA Top Six Award for post-graduate study.
