Dean Crouser
Position: Hall of Fame Inductee
Other Position: 2003 Inductee, Men's Track & Field (1979-83)

The older half of one of the most ballyhooed collegiate throwing tandems of all-time, the former Gresham (Ore.) High
School state champion completes only the second brother combination to be inducted into the University’s Athletics
Hall of Fame. In 1982, he became the first thrower in 10 years and ninth all-time to win the shot put (68-4 1/2) and
discus (207-4) double in the 1982 NCAA Championships, then staked gold again in the discus in 1983. Altogether in
his career, he was a five-time All-American (1981 - 4th, discus; 1982 - 1st, shot put and 1st, discus; 1983 - 1st, discus
and 3rd, shot put) as well as a four-time Pac-10 champion in the events in 1982 and 1983. He still owns the school
records in the shot put (69-1 1/2) and discus (216-2) and ranks sixth all-time in the latter among collegians. He stands
29th in the shot put and 28th in the discus all time among Americans. Later that 1982 season, he ranked second in
the U.S. and fourth in the world in the shot put.
