PERSONAL — Born Brian Roy Butterfield on July 17, 1988 in Yuba City, Calif. Parents: Bill and Tracie Butterfield. Family: One brother, one sister. High School (Coach) Sherwood (Greg Lawrance) 2006. Major: Business. Redshirt: 2006.

2009 — One of Oregon's top special teams players, he appeared in each game in his junior season ... Played a season-high 20 snaps against Cal ... Recorded 11 tackles during the regular season.

2008 —
The walk-on made ten appearances overall and saw the field in the final nine games of the season … Played a season-high 21 snaps in the win at Washington State … Finished the year with two tackles … A three-time scout team player of the week honoree, earned special teams honors for prep work ahead of the home opening win over Washington and defensive honors the following two weeks leading up to wins over Utah State and Purdue.

2007 —
An eight-time scout team player of the week recipient, helped prepare the first team offense, defense and special teams in a variety of roles on the practice field … Was the offensive scout team POTW leading up to UO’s road victory against Michigan, his second of five straight weekly team honors to start the season … Won the special teams scout award six times.

2006 —
Redshirted and earned six weekly team awards for scout team proficiency, including special teams player of the week prior to the epic home win versus Oklahoma.

HIGH SCHOOL —
Initially invited to Oregon as a walk-on at wide receiver, the Oregon Class 3A prep standout was asked to switch to defense prior to the beginning of his first fall camp … Led the Bowmen to state runner-up finishes over his final two years, totaling 83 receptions for 1,183 yards and 11 touchdowns … Also played three seasons at cornerback for Sherwood and was named first-team all-state (3A) at defensive back in 2005 by The Oregonian.
